Single Serve Lemonade

glass of lemonade

It’s been incredibly hot lately, which means it’s the perfect time for a glass of lemonade! This Single Serve Lemonade recipe is a simple one, created because I had a pile of zested lemons that I didn’t want to go to waste. If you make my Lemon Poppyseed Shortbread or ever have zested lemons, use the rest of the lemon to make this Single Serve Lemonade. It’s the perfect sweet, citrusy drink to enjoy on a hot afternoon!

Tips for the Best Single Serve Lemonade

Juicing the Lemon

Lemons juice more easily when they are at room temperature. For easy juicing, leave your lemon on the counter for at least an hour to allow it to come to room temperature. If you are rushed for time, microwave the lemon for 10 seconds. Once the lemon has come to room temperature, roll under your hands on the counter several times to release the juice. Slice and squeeze, making sure to strain out any seeds.

Making the Lemonade

I like to make this lemonade in a liquid measuring cup rather than in a glass because it’s easier to stir and measure, and makes less of a mess. After juicing the lemon into the measuring cup, add the sugar and stir well. Add the water and continue to stir until the sugar has dissolved into the liquid. That’s it!

Adjust to Taste

No lemon will have the same amount of juice, so make sure to adjust your drink to taste. If it’s too sour, add a bit more sugar or water. This recipe intentionally creates a slightly more sour lemonade because it’s easier to add more sugar and water than to remove any. Once you are satisfied with the flavor of your lemonade, pour over ice to serve. For an extra-fancy lemonade, rim the glass with sugar and garnish with a lemon slice or wedge.

This quick and easy Single Serve Lemonade is so refreshing! Sweet, tart, and icy cold – it’s the perfect afternoon pick-me-up for a hot summer’s day. Next time you have an extra lemon, try this recipe out!
