Simple Fudge

This Simple Fudge is the best easy treat! I have fond memories of summer trips to a candy shop as a child- I remember beautiful rows and rows of differently flavored fudge. That smell when you first walk in is heavenly and definitely something I will never forget! This fudge tastes and smells just as good, but only requires 5 ingredients and can be made quickly at home.

Tips for the Best Simple Fudge

Choose Quality Chocolate

Since there are so few ingredients in this fudge, it’s really important to use a more high quality chocolate! The chocolate adds flavor and provides texture. I prefer to use semisweet chocolate, but you can use any flavor you want – milk, dark, or even white chocolate. I personally like using Ghirardelli or Nestle chips to make fudge. Anything will work, but remember that the better the chocolate, the better the fudge will be.

Adding Mix-Ins

Plain fudge is delicious, but fudge with mix-ins is even better! I recommend nuts, crushed sandwich cookies, various candies, and other flavors of chocolate chip. For mix-ins that don’t melt easily, just stir into the fudge after adding the vanilla extract and salt and before spreading into the pan. I’d recommend leaving a handful out to sprinkle on top – it just makes the dessert a bit more beautiful!

Meltable mix-ins like extra chocolate chips or chocolate candies should be added at the last moment so that they do not melt into the fudge base. You can either layer them into the fudge or sprinkle them on top. Either way, I’d recommend putting fudge with meltable mix-ins directly into the fridge to set so that they can stay as cool as possible.

Storing Fudge

The fudge will store well at room temperature for a couple of days or in the fridge for 4-5 days. To store more long-term, freeze it! It will freeze well and keep for about 2 months. I’d recommend allowing any fudge stored in the fridge or freezer to come to room temperature before eating it, so that you can enjoy best texture and flavor!

I’m so excited to share this Simple Fudge with you! Each bite is soft, melt-in-your-mouth, and perfectly chocolatey. Let me know in the comments what you mixed in to your fudge!
